Born in Cordele, Georgia, Dontell moved to Atlanta with his single mother when he was ten years old. Before transferring to the University of Arkansas, Dontell attended Atlanta Metropolitan College. He holds an associate degree in recreational leadership and a bachelor's degree in sociology. Dontell began playing professional basketball in 2006 with the Dakota Wizards of the NBA's D-League and he soon went on to sign with the Charlotte Bobcats in 2009. Over his 12year playing career Dontell have played in 8 different countries and has gained a wealth of knowledge and experience about life situations Through all his accomplishments, Dontell has had to overcome adversity.
