But that just scratches the surface of a saga that encompasses such diverse pursuits as marathon dancing, doubling in movies for Maurice Chevalier, and serving as bodyguard to screen siren Mae West. He becomes a rarity among pro wrestling-amateur boxing promoters because he's celebrated as an honest one. Outdoors lovers will laugh joyfully as he goes hunting with a crooked barrel shotgun, battles a giant swordfish that got away, and plays three rounds of golf on three different courses in the same day. He also becomes a superlative WWII patriot and humanitarian. This is an engrossing tale about a most unusual man with a most unusual tale to tell.

Author: Gilbert Gia,Eddie Lopez
Publisher: Createspace Independent Publishing Platform
Published: 12/12/2011
Pages: 194
Binding Type: Paperback
Weight: 0.59lbs
Size: 9.02h x 5.98w x 0.41d
ISBN: 9781466464940

About the Author
Eddie Lopez, a pioneer California Hispanic newspaperman who began his career in 1947 as a 17-year-old, sold papers for a nickel on Oakland (Calif.) street corners when he was 13.
