LOVEJOY is professor emeritus of history at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, where he taught from 1960 to 1983. He received a B.S. from Bowdoin College in 1941 (and Distinguished Bowdoin Educator Award in 1980) and Ph.D. from Brown University in 1954. LOVEJOY has taught at Northwestern and Brown universities and a t Marlboro Colege in Vermont. Her was a Fulbright Lecturer in Scotland and has received Guggenheim and Rockerfeller Foundation fellowships. He is the author of Religious Enthusiam in the New World: Heresy to Revolution.
