She has also held several executive level positions, such as, Senior Vice President, Head of Retail Performance and Development for National City Bank in Cleveland; Chief Learning and OD Officer and HR Strategist at Ameriprise Financial. Later she joined Biomedical Services at the American Red Cross based in Washington, D.C., as Head of HR. Currently, she is the Head of HR strategy, talent acquisition, employment branding, talent management, risk, audit and compliance, change management, workforce planning and analytics, leadership and executive development and technical training at Amtrak Corporation. She also has a private consulting firm Altvia Consulting, which she founded in 2006. Ms. Burki holds Master's degrees from Columbia University and Kansas State, and holds MALD and Ph.D. (ABD) from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University, and is multilingual. She has taught at Kansas State University, Tufts University and Harvard University. She is an adjunct professor for the School of Management, George Mason University, on issues of Organizational Change, Diversity and Cultural Globalization.
