Two months after he retired, the events of September 11, 2001 occurred. He again answered his need to serve by joining the U. S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. Reminded of the many untold stories about his favored destroyers and the brave sailors who went to sea in them, this proud patriot now writes of their adventures and trials.
