Her research primarily explores the social and political role of translation in the construction of gender and cultural\/national identities in a transnational world, with a particular focus on the non-hegemonic cultural\/linguistic contexts of Spain.\u003c\/p\u003e \u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cb\u003e \u003c\/b\u003e\u003cp\u003eEmek Ergun is an activist-translator and Assistant Professor of Women's and Gender Studies and Global Studies at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She earned her interdisciplinary PhD from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Her research focuses on the geo\/political role of translation in connecting feminist activists and movements across borders.
