She studied Scottish History and Sociology at Glasgow University, before going on to work as a musician and playing across Britain, Ireland and Europe. On returning to the Highlands, she set up her independent production company, Metagama Productions, and over a number of years, devised and produced quality award-winning TV and radio arts documentaries for BBC Scotland. Taking time out in 2004 to set up and run the family outdoor activities and events business at Bogbain Farm, Inverness, she returned to full-time music in 2011, playing with her band, Dorec-a-belle, composing music for projects including film and theatrical shows, and is a regular tutor within the Fèis movement. Liza has written for a variety of publications, including feature articles for newspapers and journals. She is a columnist with Highland News \u0026amp; Media, with her folk music articles being published across the organisation's eighteen newspapers and corresponding online sites. She also writes fiction, children's stories and other non-fiction.
