Jeremiah hosts his niece, Lydia Binterfield, cast out from Havre de Grace by her half brother. Lydia is determined to gain control of her new home, joining Jeremiah in his hatred for the Pulaskis. Sonja discovers an ending to the nightmare gnawing at her soul. Working with the mysterious Argyle Corporation, Ben must continue to ship rice and lumber from Georgetown into the Chesapeake Bay, and find a way to defuse Williamson's anger, while keeping his real purpose secret.The soft beauty and tropical climate of the South Carolina low country was a perfect location for rice cultivation in a world calling it Carolina Gold. In 1844, new millionaires were arising monthly and building extravagant mansions on rice plantations in the river marshes near Georgetown. Eighteen thousand slaves labored in swamps of sweltering heat, risking yellow fever, planting and harvesting millions of rice plants with only hands and hoes. Ben and Sonja move through the centers of slavery under Ben's guise as a buyer, while secretly smuggling slaves north.

Author: Robert F. LACKEY draws from his experiences living in 38 locations in the United States and Europe. His longest location was in Havre de Grace, Maryland, which provided him the perspective and understanding to begin his Pulaski Saga. For much of his years in Havre de Grace, he spent many weekend afternoons exploring the remnants of the Susquehanna and Tidewater Canal. He fell in love with the little town sitting at the mouth of the Susquehanna River and head of the Chesapeake Bay. Among the many historic themes coexisting within the nearby sites and lanes, the Canal Era of the 19th century drew the author's attention first. Stepping outside technical writing to complete his first novel, Pulaski's Canal, Robert began a family story that has blossomed into a family saga. Blood on the Chesapeake is the first of several sequels to follow Pulaski's Canal. Kingdoms in the Marsh, is his 4th Pulaski novel Raven's Risk. The next Pulaski adventure, Serpent's Compromise is due out in Autumn 2018. Robert plans additional sequels to follow the Pulaski family through the mid to late 1800's.

This title is not returnable

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0555/9255/0515/products/img_78876d48-bc16-46f5-943d-5cae1702b9fd.jpg?v=1653143060
