Father Malloy intersperses fresh insight on traditional campus events, such as new students moving into the residence halls and the annual bookstore basketball tournament, with lesser-known stories, such as the mysterious disappearance and dramatic reappearance of a statue of Father Edward Sorin at the helm of a motorboat on St. Mary's Lake.

Father Malloy also presents charming vignettes about the people who have made Notre Dame the place it is. He offers a personal tribute to the legendary Reverend Theodore M. Hesburgh and includes warm and witty stories about other C.S.C. priests and brothers, such as Charles Doremus ("Father Duck") and Brother Cosmas Guttly, who lived to be ninety-nine.
