He was the former Dean, Faculty of Arts, Jadavpur University (2013-2016). Professor Acharyya received his MSc (Economics) degree from Calcutta University in 1990 and PhD (Economics) degree from Jadavpur University in 1996. He was a Ford Foundation postdoctoral fellow at Rochester University, New York, USA, during 1997-98. Professor Acharyya has written five books and published more than 60 articles in journals and edited volumes. His recent books include \u003ci\u003eInternational Trade and Economic Development\u003c\/i\u003e (co-authored with Saibal Kar, 2014) and \u003ci\u003eInternational Economics: Theory and Policy\u003c\/i\u003e (2013). He was awarded the EXIM Bank International Trade Research Award in 1997, Global Development Network (Washington D.C.)
