Current (2013) research projects cover areas of bacteria use in concrete to improve the durability qualities of concrete. Previous research has covered rubber crumb use in concrete from waste tyres to provide freeze\/thaw protection and many fibre types of concrete reinforcement to create tough concrete materials. He has completed many research projects examining the reuse of construction waste in concrete for various physical properties. His current publications stand at over 70 including peer reviewed journals, books and conference papers\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ePrior to working at Northumbria University he spent 23 years in Construction as a managing director and 9 years in further education teaching civil engineering. His experience comprises of a wide range of construction and civil engineering projects including shop fitting and remedial treatments.
