He has been a political commentator for news organizations in both Canada and the United Kingdom. With Anthony Westell, he co-directs the Carleton Journalism Poll, which surveys public opinion on political and other issues for major news media. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eAnthony Westell was a legendary political journalist from the 1950s onward. He was a member of the \u003ci\u003eGlobe and Mail\u003c\/i\u003e's editorial board, and later its Ottawa Bureau Chief, a national affairs columnist at the \u003ci\u003eToronto Star\u003c\/i\u003e, editor of the \u003ci\u003eLiterary Review of Canada\u003c\/i\u003e, and served as a senior associate with the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. He taught journalism at Carleton University, becoming associate dean and later director of the School of Journalism and Communication there.
