The Beginning (Officially): Kenneth Arnold's Sighting (1947)
The modern era of UFO sightings began on June 24, 1947, when private pilot Kenneth Arnold reported seeing nine disc-shaped objects flying in formation near Mount Rainier in Washington state. Shortly before 3:00 p.m., while Arnold was piloting his aircraft around 20 miles to the west of Mount Rainier in search of the C-46, he noticed a sudden and intense gleam in the northeastern sky. He found it surprising and initially thought it might be caused by a military officer flying a polished P-51 Mustang, with the sun's rays glinting off the aircraft's wings. However, as more of these brilliant flashes continued to manifest, Arnold ruled out the possibility of a nearby Douglas DC-4 airliner being responsible. He instead asserted that the flashes originated from a formation of nine shiny objects, arranged in an echelon pattern and extending over a distance of roughly five miles. Arnold provided detailed descriptions of these objects, describing them as circular in shape, approximately 100 feet in diameter, and notably lacking any visible tails. These objects exhibited a peculiar behavior, periodically flipping, banking, and weaving side-to-side, akin to the movements of a Chinese kite's tail. Arnold's description of their erratic movements, "saucer-like" appearance, and high speed coined the term "flying saucers."
NOTE: Numerous individuals hold the belief that extraterrestrial visits to Earth occurred long before the pivotal year of 1947, and there exist various ancient architectural wonders that are cited as potential evidence of such encounters. Roswell Incident (1947)
A few weeks following Arnold's sighting, the widely renowned "Roswell incident," often simply referred to as "Roswell," took place. This event occurred in July 1947 when Roswell Army Air Field personnel recovered metallic and rubber debris from a downed military balloon. They initially announced their discovery as a "flying disc." In the subsequent decades, various conspiracy theories emerged, suggesting that the government had concealed debris from an extraterrestrial spacecraft.
In response to these claims, in 1994, the United States Air Force released a report that concluded the crashed object was, in fact, a top-secret nuclear test surveillance balloon associated with Project Mogul.

Project Blue Book (1952-1969)
Project Blue Book served as the classified designation for the comprehensive investigation of unidentified flying objects (UFOs) conducted by the United States Air Force. This initiative ran from March 1952 until its conclusion on December 17, 1969. The project, headquartered at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, was initially directed by Captain Edward J. Ruppelt. Over its 17-year existence, the project documented thousands of sightings and concluded that most could be attributed to natural phenomena or human-made objects. However, a small percentage remained unexplained, leaving room for intrigue.

The Betty and Barney Hill Abduction (1961)
One of the most famous UFO abduction cases involved Betty and Barney Hill, who claimed to have been abducted by extraterrestrial beings in New Hampshire. Their detailed accounts under hypnosis sparked widespread interest in alien abductions. The Hills left a diner in Vermont at approximately 10 p.m., with the aim of reaching Portsmouth by around 2 a.m. Yet, during their journey, they observed an intense, luminous object in the sky that seemed to track their movements. As they covered more miles, this light expanded and intensified. The following morning, they awoke in their Portsmouth residence, but they had no memory of the events that transpired during the previous night. Strangely, Barney had scuff marks on his shoes, Betty's dress was torn, and both of their watches had ceased to function.

Phoenix Lights (1997)
The Phoenix Lights, also known as the "Lights Over Phoenix," constituted a series of unexplained aerial phenomena that garnered widespread attention on March 13, 1997. These phenomena were witnessed in the skies over the southwestern regions of Arizona and Nevada.
During a span of approximately three hours, from 7:30 pm to 10:30 pm MST, numerous individuals reported observing lights with varying descriptions. These sightings extended across a geographic range of about 300 miles (480 km), stretching from the Nevada border, passing through Phoenix, and reaching the outskirts of Tucson. Some of the witnesses provided accounts of an extraordinary sighting, describing what seemed to be a massive, carpenter's square-shaped UFO housing five spherical lights.

Born on June 28, 1955, Steven Macon Greer is an American ufologist and a retired physician. He is renowned for establishing both the Center for the Study of Extraterrestrial Intelligence (CSETI) and the Disclosure Project. The primary objective of the Disclosure Project is to advocate for the release of classified information regarding UFOs. Dr. Steven Greer's initiative successfully brought together individuals with backgrounds in the military and government who claimed to possess firsthand knowledge of UFOs and encounters with extraterrestrial entities. These testimonies sparked widespread discussions surrounding government secrecy and the potential existence of advanced extraterrestrial technology.
On May 9, 2001, a significant event transpired when more than 20 witnesses, representing military, intelligence, government, corporate, and scientific sectors, presented their accounts at the National Press Club in Washington DC. Their testimonies aimed to affirm the reality of UFOs, extraterrestrial craft, extraterrestrial life forms, and the advanced energy and propulsion technologies associated with them. The substantial weight of this firsthand testimony, coupled with supporting government records and additional evidence, left no room for doubt regarding the existence of these phenomena.

Nimitz UFO Incident (2004)
The Nimitz incident, also known as the Tic-Tok incident, is one of the best-documented UAP reports on record, with evidence from sensor data, video footage, and credible witnesses to legitimize it. The Navy, for its part, acknowledged the Nimitz incident and released its video footage for the public to watch. Declassified military footage of the encounters renewed interest in UFOs and prompted the U.S. government to investigate further.
