About the Author
Svetlana Alexander is the pen name of Svetlana Shabalovskaya. Born in Siberia and educated at Tomsk State University in Physics (Ph.D. and D.Sc.), she resided in the US in 1994. Pursuing her research on metallic biomaterials, she also worked in Belgium, Germany, and Italy. For her career longevity and unwavering excellence in her research field, she is a recipient of Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. The collection of short stories, A Is for Animals, is her debut in a new field she is actively exploring. Her first novel, Crimes of Hearts or A Glimpse behind the Iron Curtain, is going to be published soon after. She is living with her husband in West Des Moines, Iowa, and she has two adult children.
