Alphabet Zwoop: Poemlets for Young Children

Humorous short poems and brightly colored animals introduce young children to the many sounds of letters.

Each letter of the alphabet has at least one featured animal whose name illustrates the letter's sounds. The animals, and sometimes their human companions, are the subject of the short poems where the words all begin with the same letter.

Alliteration and internal rhyme encourage readers and listeners to enjoy wordplay. Proceeds benefit the Academy of American Poets.

About the Author
Holzer, Madeleine: - Madeleine Holzer is the Educator-in-Residence at the Academy of American Poets where she writes Teach this Poem, a weekly resource for teachers, as well as other educational content for "Poets org". For over twelve years, she served as Educational Development Director and Program Development Director at Lincoln Center Institute for the Arts in Education, where she wrote the Institute's Capacities for Imaginative Learning and other conceptual documents. 

Bouchard, Amy: - Amy Bouchard is an illustrator living and working in New England. She creates quirky digital and hand-drawn images in a palette of signature bright colors that are inspired by both pop culture and childlike wonder.
