About the Author
Rose Ann Findlen grew up on a farm in the Missouri-Kansas Borderland hardly aware of the rich heritage right at her doorstep. Following graduation from Northwest Missouri State University, she began graduate study at the University of Kansas in Lawrence. There she had her first glimpse of the border conflicts which had taken place between Missouri and Kansas pioneers deeply marking their descendants' cultural values for generations to come. Following careers in higher education teaching and administration, she turned to writing. Through her research, the people and events described in Borderland Families--Always on the Edge became as real and present to her as the people she encountered in her daily life. She came to see herself more fully, too, as what she is: a daughter of the Borderland. She is the author of Missouri Star: The Life and Times of Martha A. (Livingston) Lykins Bingham, published by the Jackson County Historical Society, Independence, Missouri. The author lives in Madison, Wisconsin.
