Moving to a small seaside town had been difficult for Connor. He felt like he didn't fit in. The kids at school bullied him, his mother was always stressed out, and his only friend, an Icelandic girl named Falda, had eventually abandoned him for popularity. He was alone...or so he thought. Life takes a sudden turn one night, when armored monsters appear in the neighborhood, and both he and Falda's parents go missing. Together they set out on a trail that leads them to Iceland, an Iceland where Norse mythology is real, and where Valkyrie, talking animals, magic and monsters are commonplace. Here they find themselves caught in the middle of a power struggle between two factions of an ancient civilization known as the Vanir. On one side stands the traditional council of the Vanir, on the other stands the kidnapper, but which side is truly the enemy With the aid of his "fylgja" animal guides, Connor learns that everything he has ever known has been a lie, and that the truths about the world, his family and especially himself, have been purposefully kept from him. He is different to everyone else, unique...dangerous. To some he is a threat...to others he is a weapon.
