designed to be HOME: Professionally Designed Spaces + the Real Families That Call Them Home
HGTV and Houzz recognized interior designer Harmony Weihs and her partner Kate Savitch of the Seattle area firm designHARMONY bring you into the homes of some of their favorite clients to showcase not only beautiful designs but also how the real families live in the spaces. This behind the scenes glimpse, featuring reclaimed and custom pieces as well as local craftsmen, is like no other design book on the market.
This is not another book with lessons on interior design. It is about real clients, the real families who call these designs home. Each turn of the page provides a peek into another stunning and perfectly staged design, contrasting with images of the families creating memories and enjoying their rooms every day.
Harmony Weihs and her partner Kate Savitch are both self-taught in interior design and remodeling. They strive to support local, reclaim materials to use in their spaces, and design and build custom pieces throughout the Pacific Northwest.

About the Author
Weihs, Harmony: - A Pacific Northwest Native, Harmony was born and raised in Corvallis, Oregon with her parents and two sisters. In 1995 she moved to Seattle to study fashion design, and quickly became a true Seattleite obsessing over the perfect espresso. Harmony left the corporate world of apparel design in 2006 to start designHARMONY as a freelance designer for apparel and bags in the outdoor industry. In 2009 she wanted to be more connected to the end user of her designs and started to transition into interiors. Though not formally trained in interiors, she built her business from the ground up, which was a challenging, ever changing task, but she has never looked back. She is passionate about all things design, function and reclaiming materials to make one-of-a-kind designs. Harmony loves to have hands on experiences working with clients, trades and local craftspeople directly. She values supporting small, local businesses and being involved in her community. Harmony resides in Kirkland, Washington with her 4 year old son Holden and I year old daughter Emma. Getting dirty in the garden planting her favorite vegetables, forever tweaking her recipes, and traveling is where you will find her when not living, breathing and dreaming all things design. Tickling and loving on her top two designs to date is where she feels most at home.Savitch, Kate: - Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Kate's passion for design translated into a career with her first job out of college, designing decor, planning and coordinating high-end corporate and social events in Southern California. She soon segued into all things real estate working to develop management and marketing strategies for some of the top builders and real estate agents in California and the Seattle area. After building a custom home with her husband, Kate wanted to learn more about the design industry. Feeling stuck in her career, she reached out to several already successful designers in the area offering to intern or work on the side just to learn more about interior design. As luck would have it, Harmony replied to her inquiry and just like that, a partnership began that has blossomed into the designHARMONY of today. A Washington native, Kate lives in downtown Kirkland, Washington with her business executive husband Keith, their 4 year old son Sam, 2 year old son Matt, third baby boy on the way and their dogs Norah and Ella. When not building sandcastles or train tracks with her boys, Kate can be found entertaining her large Seattle area family, reading a good book or searching for the perfect glass of Cabernet.
