About the Author
For years my friends have been telling me to write a book. I would laugh it off but in the past few years I have been thinking about time and how quickly it goes by. I have suffered the loss of loved ones who left us too soon. I miss them still because once someone has a place in your heart, they stay there. Even time, the "Great Changer" cannot totally fill those holes left by their absence. That being said, the whole idea of the "bucket list" suddenly became important to me. Writing and finishing a book became the second item on my list. I took care of the first entry on my list when I signed up to be a volunteer a few years ago. Since I retired, the gift of my time to help others, even in a very small way, was my top priority. I had no intention to write this type of book even though I often entertained family and friends with little rhyming songs or rhyming silly verses in cards. It's just a gift I was given that often brought a smile to others. I'm sure my family wishes I had been given the gift of being a great cook, instead, but it was not to be. When I saw Rooney as a pup, it was love at first sight. I began to teach her about her world the day after she came home. Every day I would expose her to new sights and sounds. I began to teach her, as the former teacher and forever mom in me is never to be denied. I would take my cell phone with me and snap pictures of her being cute. (My son once saw all of the pictures of Rooney on my phone and wondered why I only had two pictures of my boys and tons of Rooney! I smiled sheepishly. ) Soon little rhyming captions came to mind as I viewed my photos. It was then I decided to write a book about Rooney's adventures. Now, I have to apologize for my pictures as being a photographer isn't one of my talents. I have to thank my fiancé, Ron, for making them as good as they could ever possibly be. Rooney is an amazing dog. I hope you enjoy reading about her adventures. If you were blessed with the gift of loving dogs, I don't need to say more. You understand. Their love, loyalty and faith in human beings are one of life's greatest blessings.
