Dust

When on a farm you learn to live with and tolerate dust: from the fields, the roads, blown in the air from afar, and death. Dust means something is happening or soon will: fields plowed and made ready for planting, wind picking up dirt before rain, people coming and going. It settles everywhere: on furniture, clothes, cars, life. Things can be made clean for a while, then a new wind blows and dust returns.

About the Author
Timm spent his childhood in rural Illinois, his early adult life in Chicago, and has recently returned to Chicago after a long absence. He received a BA degree in sociology from Illinois Wesleyan University, a MPA from Roosevelt University, and a MD from Loyola Stritch School of Medicine. He is a retired physician with a specialty in geriatrics. He has numerous articles published in medical and trade journals, as well as, a book for the Catholic Health Association entitled Integrating Long-Term Care, Acute Care, and Housing - Building Success Through A Continuum of Care. His poetry can be found in an array of literary journals. As a playwright, three of his plays, Obsession, Teddy's Nightmare, and Aurora Borealis have been produced at the Marigny Community Theater in New Orleans. When he is not writing, Timm likes to travel, do fabric art (especially scarfs), hang out with his partner, his 2 children, his pet dog Miss Otis, and his cat Goldie.
