About the Author
Janice R. Swinton's journey with Jesus has taken her to live in Haiti and the Philippines as an evangelistic missionary and Bible teacher. She has traveled on short term mission trips to Costa Rica, smuggled bibles into China, street witnessing in Hong Kong, and witnessing to street children in the Dominican Republic. She traveled with her mother, Ann Odene Smith, on an African Study Abroad trip to Senegal, visiting Goree Island; to the Ivory Cost and Ghana visiting slave forts and attending lectures at the Universities. Janice is a black history investigator and historian. She is an ordained ministry and has been saved and working in the field for over 27 years. She and her husband James are partners in Breaking Free Ministries. She is a graduate of the University of Kansas with a B.S. in Journalism; she is a published author and freelance writer. Janice is a conference speaker, Bible teacher, retreat and workshop leader in the US and abroad. Janice is also a multicultural speaker and black history educator in churches, schools and colleges. She has lectured at Colby, Bates and Bowdoin Colleges, University of Kansas, Kennebec Community College, Johnson County Community College, the College of the Atlantic, as well as a host of churches and high schools. She answered the call to work with wounded souls and to disciple them back to wholeness in Christ Jesus. She understands the root and the fruit of sexual abuse and domestic abuse. She and her husband have returned to Mississippi after working in Kansas and Maine. God has called them to "Tell Black People Who They Are" and to the mission of "True Reconciliation among the Races". They believe in the equality of the body of Christ - God is no respecter of persons. Janice believes in speaking God's truth without compromise.
