Fridays in April - The Mysterious Box

This isn't magic, is it? No, certainly not. There's no such thing as magic The only magic is when someone performs slight of hand tricks to make it look like magic. That's right, isn't it? But, if that's true, then why is Greg the only one to see it as a beautifully carved box, when every one else sees a plain block of wood? The answer is simple. Greg's been on the streets for the last five years drinking cheap wine. He wouldn't know what he was looking at if it hit him right between the eyes. Whoa, why then, is he able to open the box and take out the contents of it when no one else is around? Also, why does he have the box? And, what role will it, and its contents play in his life? Will they have any affect on others around him?

About the Author
I've always had a vivid imagination, and loved to read stories about things being done that were considered impossible. One day, I don't know when that day was exactly, I realized, a person can write about anything that can be thought of, and it reminded me of a science show on TV many years ago that ended each episode with the narrator saying "Remember if we can think of it, it can happen." Those might not be the exact words, but the meaning is the same. To know of, or to follow my background, I don't think a person would expect me to be interested in writing. I grew up in a family of Machinists, and Tool and Die Makers. I became one myself, and it was a profession that served me well as it supported me and me family. But, I have always had great admiration for people who could put their thoughts to words, and finally one day I found myself sitting at my computer typing my thoughts into the word processor. At first it was just a neat pastime, and then I showed it to someone else and they thought it was very interesting. So, that gave me the incentive to attempt a new career. At this point that first story is still unfinished and waiting on my computer, but it encouraged me to go on and write other stories such as the one you are about to read now. It's my first complete novel, and hopefully only the first of many to come. My wish is that you realize some pleasure from reading this novel, and eagerly anticipate the next.
