Whether as a stop along the National Road, a booming coal-mining area, or the diverse college town of today, Frostburg has always fostered a rich ethnic heritage, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to education. Carved out of Revolutionary War military lots, the town gained significance in the early 1800s as a stagecoach stop.
