His days of suffering expanded to years. Sometimes Augi wasn't strong. Often his walking was affected by fatigue. Yet he plodded on. Yet he lived. He persevered to a great degree by adjusting to lack. His military training doubtless assisted, but it was Augi's unstoppable faith that provided his pipeline to hope. Toward the end of his most severe skirmish with discouragement, Augi employed a revival tactic. He rename himself, "Gepeto's Michaelangelo." I asked Augi what the name meant to him. His reply? "God's Masterpiece." Then he smiled. The puppet poem is enchanting. It describes Augi's relationship with the Almighty: "And how I love that tender hand that moves me with each winding strand." Again Augi generates hope for himself and other via verse. Revived, Augi braces himself to fight again. Along the line he stops questioning why and accepts his lot as a warrior. He formulates his victory plan.
