Holy Roller Disco: (Growing Up Gay in the Seventies)

Holy Roller Disco (Growing Up Gay in the Seventies) is a coming-of-age story about a boy from New Jersey who grows up wanting to believe everything his church tells him. All goes well until the boy reaches puberty and discovers he is attracted to the same sex. He struggles with the differences between his libido and his religious beliefs until he finds a way to come out of his closet without simultaneously being condemned to eternal damnation. A Christian summer camp, some out-of-state college courses, a 6000-mile road trip, a roller rink, and a whole lot of praying and disco dancing add up to one treacherous, adventurous, and redemptive journey.
