In 2000, Deacon Frank Enderle, the former Executive Director of the Permanent Diaconate in the Archdiocese of Washington, began writing and publishing homilies in Spanish on the Internet. This book contains Spanish homilies with English translations. It is published specifically for those who preach who prefer to read the homilies in book format rather than on the Internet. The difference between this bilingual book and others is that these homilies were originally written in Spanish and translated into English, not vice-versa, as in other books. We hope that these books will be useful to native Spanish speakers who preach as well as to native English speakers who find they must preach in Spanish.

About the Author
Deacon Francisco Xavier (Frank) Enderle (Perez) is a Mexican American who was born in Texas more years ago than he will admit. He entered the Navy in 1966 as a Seaman Recruit when the War in Vietnam was just beginning to take on serious proportions. He retired in 1992 as a Lieutenant Commander just after the end of the First Gulf War. Before doing so, he was ordained and incardinated in 1991 for the Archdiocese of Washington and has been involved in Hispanic Ministry, bereavement ministry, and hospital and hospice ministry ever since in Catholic parishes and dioceses in the United States and Spain. He has been married for 45 years to his wife, Susan, who is from Spain. In 2000, after living in Spain and Washington DC for several years, Deacon Frank and Susan moved to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania where he is now incardinated. While living there, Deacon Frank was asked to write and deliver Spanish and English homilies every Sunday and frequently on weekdays for the next seven years. Ever since then, together with Susan, he has been writing homilies for publication in soft cover book and electronic format, as well as on the now defunct Homilies Alive website and his own Homilías/Homilies website. He has been the Executive Director of the Permanent Diaconate, Director for Deacon Personnel and Director for Deacon Formation in the Archdiocese of Washington, The Assistant to the Director for Liturgy at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington DC, as well as the Director of Clergy Formation and Director of Diaconate Formation in the Diocese of Sacramento. He has taught Liturgics and Homiletics in the Archdiocese of Washington, the Archdiocese of Denver, the Diocese of Sacramento, and the Diocese of San Bernardino. Deacon Frank and his wife both have a background in Hispanic ministry, theology, and catechesis. Deacon Frank earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Arabic and a Master of Arts degree in Pastoral Theology.
