This picture book is based on a true experience evacuating our home during Hurricane Ike. The actions and the words given to Jasper and Newfie are based solely on my interpretation. The colorful picture book, "Jasper and the Hurricane" is a story about friends helping friends through playful and sometimes stormy actions, Newfie takes on the job of helping Jasper get through his first hurricane and his fears of leaving the only safe place he knows, of losing all his possessions and looking toward the future. Will Newfie be successful?

Jasper, the young pup, has never been through a hurricane and has no idea what it's like or what to do. Newfie, the wise old cat, has been through many during his life. All Jasper wants to do is hide under his bed. Will Jasper conquer his fear of having to leave his home and go to a strange place?
