About the Author
Crane Wood Stookey is a Tall Ship officer and leadership coach, a professional mariner with more than 20 years experience of leadership and workforce engagement at sea. He grew up sailing traditional wooden boats on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and the sea has been his teacher all his life. Crane holds a US Master's license for sailing ships, and has sailed as deck officer on Tall Ships in the US and Canada. He is the founder and past director of the Nova Scotia Sea School, an award-winning experiential education and training program. He also holds a Masters of Architecture degree from Harvard and ran his own architectural practice in Boston before going to sea professionally. Since 2006 he has been helping business and organizational leaders to bring greater effectiveness to their workforce engagement strategies and greater personal authenticity to their leadership development. Crane was awarded the Queen's Jubilee Medal for his contribution to Canadian society. He lives in Halifax with his wife Lesley Patten, an independent filmmaker, two cats, and his sailboat, Prana.
