About the Author
A native of Maywood IL, Vincent B. Davis began his professional emergency management career in in the Illinois National Guard, where he retired with honors following a 23-year career in military Public Affairs and Community Relations. From 2002-2005, Mr. Davis served in the Office of the Regional Administrator at FEMA Region V, where he supervised regional and national community relations teams during 11 Presidential disasters. In 2004, he supervised community relations teams in Florida and Alabama, and served on a task force to coordinate deployment and training of 5,000 Citizen Corps volunteers assigned to the Gulf region for Hurricanes Charlie, Frances, Ivan, and Jeanne. After leaving FEMA he served as National Director of Operations for the Save-A-Life Foundation, a non-profit organization specializing in CPR/First aid education for children. In 2007, Mr. Davis was Manager of Regional Preparedness for the American Red Cross of Greater Chicago, where he developed region preparedness programs and risk-based capacity building initiatives. While at the Red Cross, Mr. Davis developed a Regional Preparedness Report for the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) Go To 2040 Plan. In 2011, Mr. Davis led the development of the Regional Catastrophic Incident Coordination Plan for the FEMA Regional Catastrophic Planning Team. Regarded as a subject-matter-expert in preparedness planning, he has served on numerous emergency management planning groups, teams, and advisory panels. Mr. Davis currently serves on the Emergency Preparedness and Response Team at Walgreens Family of Companies, where he is responsible for developing and managing emergency programs for the company's stores and facilities.
