About the Author
DEBRA DASH I was born and raised in Lakeland, Florida. I graduated from Lakeland Senior High School in May of 1982. I moved from Lakeland to Paterson, New Jersey in 1992. I moved from there to Charlotte, North Carolina in January of 2007. My last moved was from Charlotte to Boaz, Alabama, which is now my home town. I have made Boaz my home since 2008. I have Alabama roots and family here in Alabama. I was taught the true meaning of southern hospitality that is still embedded here in Alabama, even though I was born in Florida. I have a sister who lives here in Albertville, Alabama. I have six nephews and four great-nephews that live here locally. I was married then divorced. I have a dog named Sheba who is about four years old now. My grandmother taught me the love of music and the importance of reading. Reading was the greatest gift that our grandmother instilled into her grandchildren. My hobbies are acting, writing poems and oil painting. I have been oil painting since 1996. I learned how to do oil painting from my aunt who would come to New Jersey for our oil painting sessions twice a year. I took drama and advance drama in high school, and performed in several high school plays during my high school years. I have done several plays in the West Milford Players in West Milford, New Jersey, which was a great experience. In one play, I played Kanga in Winnie the Pooh in February of 1994. I have always loved writing, and actually had a poem called Caring published 1993 in the Lakeland Ledger newspaper in Lakeland, Florida. AUNTIE NEM I was born in Hartselle, Alabama. My mother moved me and my three sisters to Lakeland, Florida in 1960. Married in 1963 and again in 1973. I have four sons and seven grandchildren. In 1977, I received my G.E.D. from Pima College in Tucson, Arizona. Throughout my life I have traveled through most of the United States. I live in Boaz, Alabama, with my husband and toy poodle named Barkley, and I now considerate this is my hometown. My hobbies are oil painting, crafting, quilting, reading and writing. I love playing racquetball, although I have to sit down to play because I am handicapped. I have taught oil painting to others, even though I had to learn to paint with my left hand because my right hand is numb and my shoulder was injured during surgery in 2003. I enjoy being outdoors with nature even though I have to be in a wheelchair. I love to laugh and to have fun with my loved ones.
