About the Author
Mala Mastroberte is a self-taught photographer, model, stylist, and editor. Her passion for vintage pin-up and pulp art motivated her to become all of these as she undergoes a transformation into her favorite characters by presenting herself in these classic renditions. In her self-portraits, she embarks on a journey through the years of the changing image of the female. Most of her work is based on or inspired by illustrated vintage magazine and paperback covers, as she finds them visually stunning and absolutely captivating. Each and every one tells a fascinating story, serving as a visual and aesthetic guide to the era, and hint at how women and sexuality were perceived and portrayed during different times in history. Despite having an extensive experience posing, she doesn't consider herself a professional model, or rather not just a model. She has a vast wardrobe and prop collection which allows her to immerse herself into any role and assume different identities within the classic book or magazine cover or one required by the photographer. She has also created several of her own original covers and pin-ups, again inspired by some of the great works of the era.
