Mary's Suitcase of Memories is a delightful read. It's a snappy, funny and heartfelt memoir. The book is made up of five diaries written by Mary Buard from 1916 -1921. The diaries were originally handwritten in pencil or ink and were copied to a more legible and printable format. The diaries reveal the joys and sorrows of a young teenage girl. It chronicles her relationship with her close friend Mag, romances, school years and family relationships. It is also a historical read in that it covers concerns regarding the participation of her brothers and great uncle in the Spanish-American War and World War I.

About the Author
Shearon, Mary Buard: - On September 7, 1900, Mary Eleanor Buard was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Mary lived in a time when Charlie Chaplin was the hit of the movie screen, when buying a hat cost .25 cents, and when writing letters and waiting for the mail was the core source of communication with loved ones. She attended school at St. Genevieve of the Pines in Asheville, North Carolina and the College of the Sacred Heart in Maryville, Missouri. Mary married George Washington Shearon on September 2, 1930. They lived in various places until 1939 when they settled down in Atlantic Beach, Florida. Mary never obtained the fame and fortune she alluded to in her diaries, but she had a lifetime of wonderful friends and raised three sons who graduated from college. Mary passed away in 1975.
