About the Author

Joseph S. Sanfilippo, MD, MBA, is a Distinguished Alumnus of the Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine, Chicago Medical School. His postgraduate work includes completing the Association of Professors in Gynecology and Obstetrics (APGO)/Wyeth-Ayerst Academic Leadership Skills Program at the Wharton School and being awarded an MBA from Chatham University (for which he has served on the Board of Trustees as well as the MBA Advisory Board). He is currently Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and Director of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility as well as Director of the Center for Fertility and Reproductive Endocrinology at Magee-Women's Hospital.

Eric J. Bieber, MD, MSHCM received his MS in Healthcare Management from Harvard University and his MD from Loyola-Stritch School of Medicine. An obstetrician/gynecologist, his clinical subspecialty is reproductive endocrinology. Dr. Bieber is currently System Chief Medical Officer, University Hospitals and President, University Hospitals Accountable Care Organization (University Hospitals Health System, Cleveland, OH). His responsibilities include the creation of UH ACO's current management structure, encompassing 1,700 independent physicians and 1400 employee physicians. In addition to overseeing graduate medical education, he helped developed annual patient quality/safety conferences which draw more than 800 attendees.

David G. Javitch, PhD PhD is an organizational psychologist and President of Javitch Associates, a business consulting firm. He received his PhD from Ohio State and is a member of the Institute of Management Consultants, the American Psychological Association, and is the Vice President of the Men's Association of the Rehabilitation Center for the Aged. Dr. Javitch conducts management seminars (in English and in French) for executives from a variety of businesses around the world. In this capacity, he has worked with the European Union, the Organization of Eastern Caribbean Nations, several Ministries of Health, the US Department of State, and the US Agency for International Development.

Richard B. Siegrist, Jr. is co-director of the Master in Health Care Management Program and director of innovation and entrepreneurship at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. He was previously CEO of Press Ganey Associates, senior vice president at WebMD, and co-founder and CEO of several health care startup companies.
