Learn Introductory Chemistry while reading a novel Michael Morgan has flunked Chemistry twice. The first time was because he was infatuated with the student aide, Nikki Thompson, and couldn't concentrate; the second time was because he didn't like the new teacher, Mr. Haley, and decided to skip class. On the last day of school, Michael is warned by Nikki that Mr. Haley has Michael's name written on a piece of paper titled 'Summer School' along with two other students who have been missing. While searching Mr. Haley's desk for the piece of paper, Mr. Haley appears, shows Michael an old, battered book titled 'Summer School, ' and casts both Michael and Nikki into its magical pages. With Nikki as tutor and Michael as student, the pair joins forces to complete each chapter so that they may be released from the book and returned to the real world. Chemistry has never been so deadly... Topics covered in Semester A (Chapters 1-9): Periodic table, history of atomic models, nuclear chemistry, isotopes, ions, bonding, nomenclature, types of reactions, balancing equations, the mole, and stoichiometry.
