About the Author
Patricia F. Robinson developed a method of teaching music theory to students from ages 2-5 years. Teachers and parents have been struggling with the issue of when to start teaching music lessons, resulting in either allowing the little ones to just imitate what they see musicians do or just waiting until the child is 5 or 6 years old before learning to read music. This book is designed to teach notes, how they are made, what their names are and their value - on a toddler's level. Working with the notes gives the child an understanding of how to use them. Note that learning music theory before learning to read and compute math makes reading and math easier because the child already has practical experience working with numbers and letters. Mrs. Robinson developed this method in the 1980's while teaching pre-schoolers. Since that time the method has been refined to it's present format. This is the perfect book for parents and teachers who want to give their children a musical headstart!
