About the Author
What makes Dr. Roy Harris qualified to offer common sense suggestions on leadership? At age 16 he began working at Burger Chef starting at that bottom of the employee cycle. His first leadership role began a year later at age 17 when he was selected by the owner to manage the night shift. Responsibilities included running the night shift, planning the employee work schedule, handling thousands of dollars and managing up to eight employees at a time. The author led four full-time churches, two of which had Christian schools. He oversaw seven areas at Welch College as Vice President for Institutional Advancement and the entire student body as Dean of Students. He has overseen up to 20 employees at a time. He also filled a number of denominational leadership roles. He was elected to two terms as President of the Pi Gamma Chi Society (his college fraternity). He served as moderator or assistant of the Pamlico Association (NC) South Georgia Association (GA) and the Southern Quarterly Association (TN). He served as assistant Moderator then Moderator of the North Carolina Association of Free Will Baptists (approximately 185 churches) at age 33. He served as Chairman of Ordaining Councils in the Pamlico & Blue Ridge Associations (NC) and the South Georgia Association (GA). He coordinated the 2007 Free Will Baptist National convention in Little Rock, AR, with approximately 6,000 in attendance. He also coordinated the National Leadership Conference in Nashville, TN. He is high demand as a conference and retreat speaker, having spoken in 38 American States, Europe, Israel, and Africa. Roy is a writer, journalist, and published author. He presently serves as Moderator of Tennessee's Cumberland Association (61 churches).
