About the Author
Dr. Antonio J. Webb is an Author, Motivational Speaker, and Orthopedic Surgery resident who grew up in the rough streets of Shreveport, Louisiana surrounded around drugs, gangs, and violence. During this time, friends and family were even killed or jailed including a younger brother who was sentenced to a juvenile life sentence for armed robbery. It was not until he attended a Medical Careers Magnet Program in Shreveport that he envisioned his life outside of the streets of Louisiana as a doctor. To make this dream a reality, he joined the United States Air Force at age 17 and spent a total of eight years in the military including a tour to Iraq in 2005 as a combat medic. Following his military stint, Dr. Webb was rejected not only once, but twice from medical school but he never gave up. He was accepted to the Georgetown Experimental Medical (GEMS) program in 2009 on his third time applying and matriculated soon after into Georgetown University School of Medicine, graduating in 2014. Currently, Dr. Webb is completing his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Texas at San Antonio Health Science Center with plans to specialize in Joint and Reconstructive Surgery. In addition, Dr. Webb is a highly sought after motivational speaker and travels to speak to underprivileged students around the US about his book, "Overcoming the Odds." He has been a guest on Sway in the Morning Show, interviewed by Nikki Woods of the Tom Joyner Morning Show, and featured on FOX news, KSAT news, KSLA news and several other sites including Blackdoctor.org and Healthyblackmen.org. In 2016, Dr. Webb was named one of Black Enterprise's 100 modern men and was quoted as "A great role model for the next generation" by Dr. David Pryor-Medical Director of NBC Universal. Dr. Webb wants others to know, "If I can do it, you can as well." For more information about Dr. Webb, please visit www.antoniowebbmd.com or www.amazon.com/author/antoniowebbmd
