About the Author
Joan's mother taught her simple truths and valuable life lessons, which inspired her to begin writing children's books. Pickles was one of the numerous cats owned by her mother. Joan chose Isaiah Ortiz, the 9 year-old son of a former colleague, to illustrate and bring Pickles to life. His passion for drawing needed to be shared.
