About the Author
Schetter, Patricia: - Patricia Schetter's Special Education professional career began in 1993. As a Behavioral Analyst and Autism Specialist, she provides professional development workshops and program consultations to California school districts through Autism and Behavior Training Associates. She is the Coordinator of Autism Education Initiatives for UC Davis MIND Institutes Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities. Her professional experiences, as well as, personal perspective as a parent to a child with Neurodevelopmental differences are the impetus for Percy Learns to Fly.Livingston, Mary a.: - A Gelett Burgess Children's Book Award recipient and California Federation of Chaparral Poets honoree, Mary, grew up in the forested communities of Humboldt and Trinity Counties of Northern California. She attended Shasta College, Humboldt State University, and Loyola University. She has worked in photography, education, publishing, and liturgical design. She began her career in children's literature authoring nature and environmental education titles. Percy Learns to Fly is her debut as an illustrator. She and her husband, Tim, have two sons and three grandchildren.Lighthall, Kandis: - Kandis Lighthall career in special education spans 40 plus years. Currently she is the director of Autism and Behavior Training Associates Publications and Products. She has taught in a variety of settings including general education and special education, and was also a Program Specialist in the area of Autism. She taught curriculum classes at CSC Chico and courses in Autism at UC Davis. She has been involved at the state level in the development of the education specialist credentials, Inclusive Education projects and LRE committees. She has lectured nationally for the Bureau of Educations and Research and internationally in the South Pacific for the University of Hawaii.
