Deborah and her cousin, Shirl, have been transported back in time. They are young children again, folding clothes under the clothesline in Deborah's sunny backyard. They notice a huge flock of brightly-colored pigeons, but, as they look closer, the girls are surprised to see that the birds are more like long-legged peacocks Shirl announces that her brother, Neil, has gone missing and they must find him quickly. About the Author
Over the years, author Deborah F. Miller has been inspired by writers such as Langston Hughes, Zora Neale Hurston, Lorraine Hansberry and James Baldwin. She attended The University of Pittsburgh, The University of the District of the District of Columbia and The Apostolic Christian College. She has earned a BA in English Secondary Education, a BA in Religious Studies and an M.Ed. in Administration and Supervision of Adult Education Programs. Deborah resides in the Washington metropolitan area and has authored several short stories. She is proud to announce Pigeons or Peacocks? as her first addition to the world of literature for children. As a mother of two children, grandmother of four, and an English teacher in Prince George's County Public Schools, Deborah eagerly promotes children's interest in reading and looks forward to attending many book-signing events at area schools, libraries and other venues.
