Powerlift--Getting to Desert Storm: Strategic Transportation and Strategy in the New World Order

Logistics, the movement of forces to battlefields, their supply, and on-going support, is critical to military success. Although this principle is theoretically accepted, the importance of being well-prepared to rapidly transport troops and supplies to distant crisis points has not been complemented, as Menarchik shows, by adequate lift capabilities. About the Author

DOUGLAS MENARCHIK wrote this book while an International Fellow at The Center for International Affairs of Harvard University. He is a U.S. Air Force Colonel, serving as Assistant for Terrorism Policy in the Pentagon. He has served most recently as Vice Wing Commander of the 1776th Air Base Wing at Andrews Air Force Base and as Assistant Deputy Commander for Operations of the 443rd Military Airlift Wing at Altus Air Force Base. He is a PhD, was a professor of political science at the U.S. Air Force Academy, and was the Military Adviser to Vice President Bush from 1984-1989.
