Return Of The Outlaw Church: New Life for an Old Covenant

In 2 Corinthians 3:6 Paul writes, "He (Jesus) has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant-not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. According to the dictionary the phrase "letter of the law" means "the precise wording rather than the spirit or intent". Jesus' came to turn God's people from that letter that kills and return them to the life that abides in the Spirit. Yet, He was considered an "Outlaw" in the eyes of the established church. They even put a bounty on His head... 30 pieces of silver (Matthew 26:15). Initially this book introduces the reader to those that followed this Outlaw named Jesus. A small group of individuals that were destined to carry on and spread the truth of the covenant Jesus resurrected. They, too, would be forced to confront the law-driven, organized church and they, too, would become Outlaws. In addition, it discusses reasons and signs of a similar time coming for today's church. And perhaps it will convey an understanding as to why a person may be hearing God beckoning them to become a partaker in the return of the Outlaw Church.

About the Author
Reed Hervey spent a large part of his younger years in a little farming community in Southwest Arkansas. Those Huckleberry Finn-type adventures are a major part of what makes up the person. However, in looking back over his life, he lightheartedly says that a portion of a quote by Charles Dickens comes to his mind: "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us..." Reed says that maybe if he had followed someone beyond himself (a/k/a God) his path might have been more toward the best of times, the age of wisdom, the epoch of belief, the season of light, and the spring of hope with everything before him. Nevertheless, he states that he is living proof of Romans 8:28; "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God... " (KJV). Now after years of accumulating an array of framed documents and a certain amount of experience, he embarks on another journey. And, unlike in times past, Reed fully intends to follow someone beyond himself (God) toward the best of times.
