About the Author
Khalfani, Natasha M.: - Natasha Khalfani is a wife, mother, homeschooler, lawyer, educator and now an author. Natasha earned her bachelors of arts at the University of California at Berkeley. She earned her Masters of Art in Teaching at The American University and her Juris Doctorate at the University of Baltimore. Natasha taught elementary school for three years and is currently an attorney and home schools her two children Shiloh and Serene. Natasha is a practicing attorney in Prince George's and Montgomery County, Maryland. She has been working for the past six years representing children and parents in Child In Need of Assistance cases, which are cases that engage families who have been affected by child abuse and neglect. While her work in this field is challenging, she really enjoys this field of law and being able to help people in their most trying times. As her professional life has been focused on children, it is only fitting that Natasha's first book is a children's book. Natasha has always enjoyed writing and felt as though she has been gifted in that area. Selah's Prayer is the first of many books to come from Natasha for both children and adults. Natasha aspires to use her gift in writing as a tool to shed the message of Christ's love in a practical way. She hopes her writing will teach people how to use the power that is Christ to impact their everyday lives. Selah's Prayer is based on events in Natasha's own life that helped her come to know just how powerful the Word of God is; and she is grateful to finally begin to share what she has learned and experienced in her life with others through her writing.Tolson, Marla: - Marla Tolson has always loved art and drawing. Her passion has taken her from being the best artist in her kindergarten class in Fairfax County Public Schools, through a bachelor's program at the Corcoran College of Art + Design in Washington, DC, to an Art Educator and children's book illustrator in Upper Marlboro, MD. Illustrating children's books has been a life- long dream of Marla's, which she is excited to debut in Selah's Prayer.Khalfani, Jabari N.: - Jabari Khalfani has been writing as a lyricist, poet and now author for well over thirty years. A transplant from North Chicago, now residing in Maryland, influenced by the then emerging hip- hop culture, Jabari started writing rhymes in the first grade. As he grew older he began writing and performing open mic poetry. His love for rap music eventually led him to combine both styles and take on the stage name TheWord. Jabari can be described as a poetic, conscientious, deep thinker whose writing is both provocative and relevant. As a natural transition Jabari has evolved from spoken word to the expanded craft of authorship. This new occupation of writing was birthed by his joint venture with Natasha Khalfani, in Selah's Prayer but includes forthcoming novels, academic writing and more children's stories. Jabari currently serves as a middle school teacher in Prince George's County Maryland. Jabari began his career as a teaching assistant at the age of19. This instilled a genuine passion for teaching and impacting disadvantaged youths. This passion would evolve into an illustrious teaching career that has spanned over a decade, in some of the most challenging schools within the surrounding Washington DC. Metro area. Jabari has sought to continuously groom him self professionally by acquiring his Masters degree in Education Administration. He also strives to give back to the community through his Educational Non-profit (The Write House) that deals with developing students as critical thinkers and writers.
