When the children wake to find a layer of glistening snow outside their house, they throw on hats and scarves and coats. Building a giant fortress and making snow angels is fun, but not as much as rolling three snowballs to construct a figure that looks just like their grandmother. Joy turns to sadness as they begin thinking about how much they miss her. But their memories are happy ones and they decide to find something special to complete their snowgran. Up in the attic, they find her favorite book. And when they place it in her hands, the magic begins. Snowgran comes to life and reads to them, taking them to a land of enchantment as all stories do. As the sun warms the air, Snowgran realizes it is time for her to leave and she waves farewell to her beloved grandchildren.
Author, teacher, magician, and puppeteer September Cardiff weaves love and laughter into every verse of STELLA THE SNOWGRAN. Patterned after the familiar Frosty the Snowman, and written to be sung as well as read, this heart-warming picture book pays tribute to her own creative mother. Illustrations by Adam Uhlig provide the perfect background for the story's action and will engage children with every page turn.
