Curtis Poling was born in Ohio and has lived in many places in the United States pursuing a career in the building products and home improvement products industries. In 2007, at age 53, Poling was diagnosed with prostate cancer. A thorough person by nature, Poling investigated his options through research on the Internet and discussions with a variety of medical professionals, with particular attention to the adverse effects of the various treatments. Poling discovered proton beam therapy and pursued this option at Loma Linda University Medical Center in California. After overcoming his cancer, Poling began blogging to make others aware of the availability and benefits of proton beam therapy. Poling now serves in the US with KMI International, helping patients from around the world obtain treatment at the National Cancer Center in Seoul, Korea.
