About the Author
Born and raised in Dallas, TX, Walter B. Littlejohn has a BBA Degree from Texas A&M University and a MS from the University of Texas at Dallas. After graduation from Texas A&M he entered the United States Air Force and graduated from pilot training in 1954. His first assignment as an operational pilot was as an F-89 Scorpion pilot with the 65th Fighter Interceptor Sq. at Elmendorf AFB, Alaska. Future assignments took him to New Mexico, Utah, and Texas and overseas assignments in Japan, Korea, Okinawa and Vietnam, flying the F-86, F-94 and B-57. Included in his various flying assignments, Col. Littlejohn was the command IP (instructor pilot) and Flight Examiner for The Pacific Air Command and Air Defense Command. During his 1967-1968 Vietnam tour, Col. Littlejohn flew 165 combat missions in the B-57 Canberra and was awarded The Distinguished Flying Cross and The Air Medal with eight clusters. When he retired from the Air Force he was serving as Chief of the Air Defense Exercise Branch at Air Defense Command Headquarters in Colorado Springs. After retiring from the Air Force he returned with his family to Texas, where he now resides.
