About the Author
LaKeacha M. Jett is an educator, writer and publisher. As an award-winning instructor and certified educator of 14 years, LaKeacha has an in depth knowledge of education theory and technique. She holds a bachelor's degree from Coppin State University, a master's degree from The College of Notre Dame in Maryland, and a specialist degree from Argosy University in Atlanta, where she is currently a doctoral candidate. LaKeacha is the co-founder of Social Butterflies Youth Services, Inc., a non-profit organization that builds the self-esteem of girls. Since incorporating in 2007, Social Butterflies, Inc. has reached girls across five states. LaKeacha has dedicated her life to developing programs and writing curricula, which combat at-risk youth behavior. She has written three educational curricula, The 28 Days of February, Free to be Me Curriculum for Girls and Being The Best Me Curriculum. The 28 Days of February is a resource guide that enlightens students' knowledge of African American History from Africa to America. Free to be Me Curriculum for Girls is the official curriculum for Social Butterflies Mentoring Program. Lastly, Being The Best Me Curriculum is a character education program that offers a systematic and effective way to develop character and build the self-esteem in youth ages 9 and older. She has also written a memoir entitled Egregious Acts: a Memoir of Victory Over Violence. LaKeacha credits her success to her faith in God and her strong family support. A native of Baltimore, Maryland, LaKeacha currently resides in Atlanta, GA with her three beautiful children.
