After a family tragedy, Mattie, a young widow, raised her orphaned niece, Julie. Now, as Mattie approaches her seventieth birthday, Julie, grown and married, asks Mattie what is on her bucket list. This simple question sets in motion a string of events that lead Mattie and her two closest friends, Edna and Corinne, on a journey of adventure, self-discovery, and unfamiliar yearnings. Events unfold that strain the bonds between these four women. Relationships are turned upside down, old friendships are challenged, romance beckons, and they come face-to-face with mortality.
The Blue Wildebeest is a beautifully written story of love, friendship, and the relationship challenges that come with the passing of time.
