The Commonitory of St. Vincent of Lerins is a Christian theological treatise written by Saint Vincent of Lerins in the 5th century. The book is a guide for Christians to discern true doctrine from false teachings. The author argues that true Christian teachings are those that have been held by the Church throughout the ages and have been passed down from generation to generation. He warns against the dangers of novel and heretical teachings that deviate from the traditional teachings of the Church. The book is divided into three parts: the first part discusses the importance of preserving the true faith, the second part provides guidelines for distinguishing true doctrine from false teachings, and the third part gives examples of heresies that have arisen in the Church. The Commonitory of St. Vincent of Lerins has been highly influential in Christian theology and has been used as a guide for the development of doctrine in the Catholic Church. This edition of the book was published in 1846.This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
