About the Author
Nancy Clark, MS, RD, an internationally known sports nutritionist, counsels both competitive athletes and casual exercisers in the Boston area. Clark specializes in nutrition for sports, exercise, wellness, and the management of eating disorders. She has been nutrition consultant to the Boston College athletes and the Red Sox. Her private practice is at Healthworks, the premier fitness center in Chestnut Hill MA. She is a Fellow of the American Dietetic Association and the American College of Sports Medicine. She is author of the best-seller Nancy Clark's Sports Nutrition Guidebook (Human Kinetics, 2008), now in it's fourth edition, and Food Guide for Marathoners: Tips for Everyday Champions (Meyer & Meyer, 2008). A regular contributor for Adventure Cycling magazine, Clark also writes a monthly nutrition column called The Athletes' Kitchen, which appears regularly in over 100 sports and health publications. A regular bike commuter for over 30 years, Clark has also bicycled across America as a tour leader for Adventure Cycling Association, lead several other bike tours, and, as a runner, has completed several marathons. She lives in the Boston area with her husband and two children. Jenny Hegmann, M.S., R.D., is registered dietitian specializing in sports nutrition, wellness, and weight management. She presents nutrition seminars for the public, athletes, and professionals and has written numerous articles for medical and fitness websites. Hegmann completed her undergraduate degree in dietetics from Idaho State University, her dietetic internship at Massachusetts General Hospital, and her graduate degree in human nutrition and metabolism from Boston University. She is a member of the American Dietetic Association and their affiliate, Sports, Cardiovascular, and Wellness Nutritionists. A serious cyclist for over 20 years, Hegmann has participated in races, randonnées, century rides, triathlons, and weekend tours. She is a member of the Northeast Bicycle Club and faithfully bike commutes from her home in Reading, Mass., to her office in Boston. Hegmann has a love of nature and outdoor recreational activities including cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and hiking. Hegmann is equally passionate about food and cooking and when not on the road or trail, can be found cooking up healthy feasts for family and friends in her kitchen.
